As businesses explore additional ways to better control expenditure, international corporate travel services provider Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) is urging companies to review travel and entertainment (T&E) payment methods. The company has announced the global launch of a corporate card review programme that can deliver cost savings in excess of 20 per cent and cut in half the time taken to implement a relevant solution.

Although T&E features as the second or third largest expense for most firms, many international companies operate a different company card scheme in each of the markets in which they operate. This leads to duplication of administration, unnecessary expense and a lack of visibility of overall spend. HRG Consulting’s interactive tool helps companies to:

  • Understand their current situation and future requirements
  • Assess the different card solutions available (comparing the functions offered at a cost per transaction with individual requirements)
  • Achieve average cost savings of 15 per cent (with potential to exceed 20 per cent)
  • Implement a global programme review in as little as six months (half the time usually required for such a complex procurement process).

Marion Klar, Principal at HRG Consulting, said: “A credit card is a very complex financial product. Globally there are a significant number of issuers, networks and solutions, all of which have different functionalities and limitations. A card does not offer the same features and benefits in every market, each solution is very different and it is difficult to compare like for like easily.

In addition, internal company policies often differ by location and can be dictated by particular trends or regulatory issues. This can make it difficult to gain overall visibility and control and means the review process is complicated and time consuming.”

Klar concluded: “HRG Consulting can help companies cut through these complexities to implement a solution that delivers their clients’ key objectives and requirements using a cost-effective and timely process.”

Commenting on HRG Consulting’s role in reviewing its corporate card solution, Lars Chorfixsen, Associate Director, Group Indirect Procurement, of Nycomed, said: “HRG Consulting supported Nycomed in a global tender in a very professional way, providing comprehensive assessment models and fact-based recommendation, which reduced the sourcing process substantially.”
